Research Interests

My PhD project focuses on the use of genomics tools to establishing genome resources that will allow to advance the improvement of wild or semi-domesticated plant species with a high potential for desert agriculture. I work on the fonio millet (D. exilis) as it shows high tolerance to heat, drought and salt. Moreover, perform a genome wide association studies and identify potential parents for genetic mapping. My aim from this project is also to establish gene editing protocol, this will allow to modify domestication genes to sequentially modify traits such as seed size.
